What is RVTS?
The Remote Vocational Training Scheme is a program supporting General Practitioners towards Fellowship with either ACRRM or RACGP. It’s purpose is to training General Practitioners in a rural and remote community, to increase retention in Doctors for rural and remote communities. The program runs for 3-4 years, and allows for remote supervision of General Practitioners.
What is the eligibility criteria?
General Practitioners applying for the program have two options for application:
- The Remote Stream, which requires the applicant to be in a MMM 4- 7 or
- The AMS Stream, which requires the applications to work in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in a MMM 2 – 7.
Both streams will require you to hold current AHPRA registration, and if you’re working under Limited AHPRA Registration then you must hold Level 3 or 4. You must already be working in an eligible location at the time of your application and commit to staying at that location for the full duration of your training.
There is an exception to the requirement to be currently working in the location if the clinic has been approved on the targeted recruitment list with RVTS.
What do I do now?
If you meet the eligibility criteria, and either your current location is eligible or you’re interested in the targeted recruitment program then jump in and apply! It’s a great program providing you support towards working in regional Australia.
