Changes to Medicare Requirements for Fellows

From June 16 2021, Medical Practitioners who achieve Fellowship will no longer be required to submit a HW075 or HW076 form to Medicare in order to be recognised as a Fellow and be eligible for A1 Medicare rates. You will now only need to apply to the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) for Specialist registration in General Practice.

Once you are registered as a Specialist GP, AHPRA will provide this information to Services Australia and your Medicare rebate level will be amended.

Ongoing registration with the Medical Board of Australia will continue to be tied into ongoing access to higher Medicare rebates but Services Australia will rely on the MBA for annual updates rather than on the RACGP and ACRRM providing CPD information every 3 years.
