Do I have to have seen a patient before to be able to bill a telehealth item number?

Our team has confirmation in writing from AskMBS that there is no longer any requirement for you as a provider (or any other provider in the practice) to have an existing relationship with the patient for the COVID-19 items. Telehealth services provided by the patient’s usual doctor are preferred, however an existing provider-patient relationship may not always be possible. New patients can receive a consultation under these items.
