Eligibility Requirements of the 3GA Programs

Which 3GA program are you eligible for? 

Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) 

To be eligible for AGPT you must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Temporary Resident
  • Hold or expect to hold General Registration by the commencement of the program.

Australian Medical Deputising Service (AMDS) 

To be eligible for AMDS you must:

  • Hold either Limited, Provisional or General Registration.
  • Hold a current Level 1 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Course Certificate
  • Have at least two years of post-graduate experience, including paediatrics, accident and emergency, and medicine and surgery.

Fellowship Support Program (FSP) 

To be eligible for FSP you must:

  • Have passed the FSP Entry Assessment
  • Have General or limited medical registration (Level 2 supervision and above, at the point of application, only)
  • Have a job offer in an MMM 2-7 location.

ACRRM Independent Pathway (IP)

To be eligible for ACRRM IP you must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Temporary Resident
  • Hold either Limited AON, Provisional or General Registration.

More Doctors for Rural Australia Program (MDRAP)

To be eligible for MDRAP you must:

  • Hold either Limited, Provisional or General Registration
  • Have a job offer in a DPA and MMM 2-7 location (regardless of whether you are restricted by 19AB or not).

*Please note that this is a bridging program for doctors working to join one of the above 3GA programs. 

Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RGTS) 

To be eligible for RGTS you must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Hold a general AHPRA registration
  • Have a job offer or be currently working in a MMM 2-7 location.

Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) 

To be eligible for RVTS you must:

  • Hold either Limited (AON), Provisional or General Registration.
    • If you are on limited you must be on either Level 3 or 4 supervision and must already be working in the location you’re applying for.
