THIS WEEK’S QUESTION…?
Is PEP a 3GA program?
The Short Answer
Yes- The Department of Health have confirmed in writing and the RACGP have updated their PEP FAQ’s to include information that PEP will be a 3GA program, and that registrars on this program will have access to the full Medicare rates (A1 or “VR GP Rates”).
What is the eligibility criteria?
The eligibility criteria appear to consist of:
- Current Australian medical registration
- A job or offer of a job delivering general practice services
- A valid GPE assessment, with one year of assessed Australian general practice experience.
When approving application, the following points will be taken into consideration:
- MM status
- clinical experience
- recency of practice.
- self-identified need, based on personal or professional circumstances.
At this stage, there does not appear to be any further criteria however we are investigating this for you!
Can I Apply Now?
No- The pilot applications have closed and won’t reopen until next year.
What About The Other Programs?
There are no changes at this stage to the other programs. PEP FAQs confirm that PEP cannot be used in conjunction with AGPT or RVTS however it can be used with RLRP. We’re waiting on confirmation for AMDS, SAPP & ACRRM Independent Pathway.
