RACGP have released multiple updates that effect General Practitioners sitting for fellowship soon and in the coming years. To help keep everyone across these changes, our team will continue to put together blogs such as this!
WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR:
The Practice Experience Program (PEP) has been developed as a self-directed learning program to support Non-VR General Practitioners prepare to sit for RACGP Fellowship.
So far there has been no confirmation that the PEP Program will become an approved 3G Program. However, RACGP have confirmed as of 2022, General Practitioners will be required to complete an approved program in order to qualify sitting for fellowship with RACGP.
WHY WAS THE PEP PROGRAM CREATED?
The PEP program was created to provide targeted educational support for Non-VR General Practitioners to help them to prepare for RACGP Fellowship and deliver the best quality of care to their patients. The program has been specifically designed to help General Practitioners who do not have access to adequate support due to personal reasons, professional reasons and/or education reasons.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM GO FOR?
The program consists of 6 terms, each running for 6 months (full-time equivalent) and typically involves completion of roughly five units per term. Depending on your required learning, the program time frame is between 6-months to 3-years.
IS THE PEP PROGRAM UP AND RUNNING?
RACGP are currently taking applications for PEP until the 27th of August 2018. So, it is important to submit your application ASAP as only 400 applicants can be selected for the program.
