DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

Coronavirus at a glance – 

MEDICARE

GP Revenue is up 16% from the same period (April) last year – 

$328 Million Face to Face Consults ($100 million less than April last year) and $219 Million in telehealth consults. However, practices across Australia are reporting an average 30% decrease in patient numbers & profits.

New MBS for Anaesthetists, Dental Practitioners (oral & maxillofacial surgery) & Dieticians-

Medicare will rely on AHPRA register to determine eligibility for higher Medicare rebates-

New legislation will see Medicare rely on the AHPRA public register to determine eligibility to access higher Medicare rebates, bringing it inline with other specialities under the National Law.

RVTS-

2021 Applications – 

Applications for the 2021 intake of RVTS opens on the 1st of June and closes on the 5th of July.

RACGP-

RACGP AGPT Applications – 

In response to the current uncertain circumstances, final eligibility finalisation has been extended until the 5th of June.

 

ACRRM

ACRRM Independent Pathway Applications – 

Written submission & applications due for October 2020 cohort on 22nd June. We’re still awhile away but if you’re interested in applying, make sure you’re getting a headstart on finalising that application! 

 

CHECK INS

 

  • Pending an update from OET on their new online platform and whether it will be accepted by healthcare regulators

 

  • Pending information from RACGP about the new OSCE exam – applications for AKT & KFP are currently open
  • AMC MCQ is open and taking submissions for June, the AMC Clinical remains closed until further notice
  • RACGP have no update on PESCIs after June
  • 19AA & 19AB extensions appear to be continuing for those whose programs and exemptions are finishing in June.
