Need help understanding your pathway?
Date Updated: 2025-11-17
For General Practice, even if a practice is willing to take on a supervised doctor who hasn’t passed a PESCI, the doctor will not be granted registration without having passed one. Please note that Hospital Doctors do not sit PESCIs.
It is a requirement of Limited and Provisional Registration for a doctor to pass a PESCI before being granted registration. This is to ensure that doctors are able to practice safely in your specific patient demographic.
However, if the doctor has sat a PESCI at another practice, they can apply for an exemption from having to sit a PESCI for your practice.
