I am willing to hire a doctor who hasn’t sat a PESCI.. will AHPRA let me?

Even if a practice is willing to take on a supervised doctor who hasn’t passed a PESCI, the doctor will not be granted registration without having passed one.

It is a requirement of Limited and Provisional Registration for a doctor to pass a PESCI before being granted registration. This is to ensure that doctors are able to practice safely in your specific patient demographic.

However, if the doctor has sat a PESCI at another practice, they can apply for an exemption from having to sit a PESCI for your practice.

Learn more about PESCI on our blog here.
