Will working rurally reduce my moratorium more quickly?

 

 

The answer is YES! 

 

The Department of Health bought in 10 year Moratorium ‘Scaling’ to reward Doctors for working in a more regional area but cutting down their Moratorium. 

 

It is currently still based on the RA system- there hasn’t been a conversion to MMM as yet. 

 

You can still check the ‘RA’ status of the location by using the Locator Map located here: https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/health-workforce-locator/health-workforce-locator#hwc-map

 

You can select the below option to discover the RA code

You must be claiming Medicare benefits, and be billing more than $5000 per month. 

 

You can check this by calling Medicare or looking on your PRODA account.
