The answer is yes. However, please note that AHPRA will require you to have an Internship to be eligible for registration.
If you wish to pursue your Internship in Australia, it could be difficult to land accredited internship roles for Overseas Trained doctors. AHPRA also strongly suggests to accomplish your internship where you graduated before applying for registration in Australia because they prioritise Australian graduates for accredited internship roles.
If, in case, you are able to land an internship role in Australia, you need to include in your registration application the following:
- A written confirmation from your proposed employer with a job offer as an accredited intern position, and include that (1) you have not completed a medical internship or comparable, and (2) you will be given support and supervision by them if you are granted registration
- Contact details of your employer
