I have my intern year only. What are my chances of finding a job in Australia?

GP Jobs and Recruitment Assistance Australia | People Medical

As a General Practitioner, it is unlikely to get registration with only your intern year.

In the Hospital System

It is very competitive to get a hospital-based job in Australia. The doctors who we see successfully being offered jobs have:

  • Minimal practice gaps
  • Answering the Selection Criteria
  • Use patient examples in their Selection Criteria

While having your AMC Certificate is preferred, it is not essential. Keep working towards this but do not let it stop you from applying.

There are applications that request “Eligibility for AHPRA Registration” – these are the positions willing to accept applications from those not currently working in Australia.

We want to hear from doctors who have successfully obtained a hospital job—give your fellow doctors hope and validation. There are so many people willing to talk about how hard it is and not enough celebrating. Tell us your success stories either by commenting or PM’ing us privately and we can share your story anonymously.
