This is entirely up to you, but there is no restriction that requires you to be a member of a college after you are a Fellow.

The only requirement you need to have is a CPD Home which may be a college or non-college home. You have the option to stay a member of your college (RACGP or ACRRM) to be your CPD Home or choose to have a different one, as long as your CPD Home must be able to support your CPD requirements for your specialty.

Aside from CPD Home, you can opt to stay a member for the college’s benefits like professional development, networking, education and training resources, and more.

Please note that maintaining membership with your specialty college does not impact your access to Medicare rebates and Specialist AHPRA Registration.

Can I use FRACGP or FACRRM as post-nominal?

You can only use FRACGP or FACRRM as a post-nominal if you are an active Fellow in your college—meaning you renew your annual membership with RACGP or ACRRM and comply with the CPD requirements. If you have not renewed or paid your annual membership, then you automatically won’t be able to use the FRACGP or FACRRM post-nominal.

For FRACGP, RACGP has further stated with us in writing that these are the following requirements to use FRACGP as a post-nominal:

Be a member of the RACGP and;
Be a financial Fellow of the RACGP; and
Fulfill the CPD requirements set by the RACGP.

For FACRRM, they have specified that if a Fellow fails to renew their annual membership, cancel their membership, resign, retire or otherwise be de-registered, they will not be able to use the FACRRM post-nominal.
