Who can I sit PESCI with?

GP Jobs and Recruitment Assistance Australia | People Medical

We understand we have a lot of doctors eligible for Limited or Provisional AHPRA Registration that require a PESCI to achieve AHPRA Registration.

We want to keep all of you up to date on any PESCI changes and who you can sit a PESCI with!

Can I sit PESCI with HWAV?

HWAV has announced that they will not be conducting any PESCIs from 21/12/2018.

If you were planning on applying to HWAV to sit a PESCI, you will need to apply to an alternative PESCI Provider depending on your location.

What PESCI provider can I go with?

Depending on the location of your practice, you can sit a PESCI with ACRRM, IME or RACGP.

If you are eligible or currently holding Limited or Provisional AHPRA Registration, you will be required to sit for a PESCI prior to working as a General Practitioner at the practice.

ACRRM PESCI

ACRRM offers PESCI’s for all practice locations.  Interviews are held in QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA.  They are assigned based on the location of the practice. However, you can request a PESCI in a different location if needed!

Additionally, interviews can be conducted via video conference, but this is generally not recommended by ACRRM. For this type of interview, you will be responsible for organising the interview venue and an invigilator and all costs associated.

How long you will have to book in advance for a PESCI will depend on the state in which you are requesting an interview.

As part of your application for a PESCI, you will need to provide the following:

  • Proof of a Medical Qualification as listed on International Medical Education Directory (IMED)
  • Proof of AMC CAT MCQ Examination Assessment Performance or an Eligibility to Apply for
  • Provisional Registration through the Competent Authority Pathway
  • Proof of Current Job Offer in an Area of Need (AON) or Distribution Priority Area (DPA)
  • ACRRM CV
  • Certified Copy of your Passport
  • ACRRM Position Description
  • PESCI Agreement
  • Training Plan – if applying for Limited Registration – Postgraduate Training and Supervised Practice

IME PESCI

IME offers PESCIs for all practice locations.  Interviews are held at IME’s headquarters at Gold Coast, QLD. Virtual interviews are also available.

They are assigned less than 4 weeks after the submission of a completed application.

As part of your application for a PESCI, you will need to provide the following:

  • Proof of a Medical Qualification as listed on International Medical Education Directory (IMED)
  • Proof of AMC CAT MCQ Examination Assessment Performance or Eligibility for Provisional Registration through the Competent Authority Pathway

RACGP PESCI

RACGP offers PESCIs for practices in ACT, NSW, NT, SA and TAS, while interviews are regularly conducted in NSW, SA and TAS.

Video conference interviews are also available through the Tasmania faculty. You will be required to find a meeting room with video conferencing facilities and are responsible for all costs involved.

Interviews are generally available within 3 – 9 weeks depending on the number of interview requests.

As part of your application for a PESCI, you will need to provide the following documents:
