What are the RACGP Fellowship Exams?

The RACGP Fellowship exams or assessment requirements you need to pass are the following:

  • Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) – 150 multiple choice questions exam that tests your application of knowledge in the clinical context of Australian general practice.

  • Key Feature Problem (KFP) – 70 individual multiple selection questions to assess clinical decision making and clinical reasoning in practice.

  • Clinical Competency Exam (CCE) – 9 cases assessment with 4 case discussions and 5 clinical encounters to be conducted online, real-time, and by several examiners.

If you need help in preparing for your exams, RACGP has created their own exam support resources page that you can access here.

How many exam attempts do I have?

Since 2019, you will be able to enrol in 6 exam semesters within 3 years (the maximum period of candidacy) to pass all Fellowship exams.

If you do not pass all 3 Fellowship exams by the end of your candidacy, then you will not be eligible for Fellowship. Also, you can’t sit the Fellowship exams if you are on an approved leave, unless you are on parental leave where you will need to submit a request to sit the Fellowship Exams and that request must be supported by the Training Program Team.
